Board of Directors

Musical Director

Dave Brown
A thoroughly experienced frontline director, Dave’s career is extensive in barbershop and choral music.  Dave’s “shop” career began in the Evergreen District in 1969 when he joined the chorus in Klamath, Oregon.  Since then, Dave, hasn’t looked back- racking up a prolific career that has included singing with the Beehive Statesmen chorus, the Utah Valley Skyline Chorus and the Saltaires Show Chorus. He has also directed the Beehive Statesmen, the Saltaires and even incorporated and directed the St. George, Utah Country Color Chorus.  Dave sang with the “Saltaires” at International Chorus Competition in Indianapolis (1996) and Atlanta. (1997). As if that wasn’t enough, Dave raised his kids in barbershop (btw- he’s great with youth!) and even formed quartets with them to compete at District!

Dave studied music education, has attended Harmony College, Director’s College and auditioned for and was accepted a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Whew!  That’s just a brief look at Dave’s resume.  What’s important to really know – Dave loves teaching, directing, singing and recruiting for the Midnight Sons Chorus- and most of all- having fun!

By profession Dave owns his own company, Dave Brown Development.

Assistant Director

Doug Hartman
Doug brings a big smile, excitement and experience to the Midnight Sons. With both parents still active barbershoppers with the Alaska Sound Celebration Chorus and the Midnight Sons, Doug literally grew up around barbershop music. He went on to receive his music degree at UCLA. Doug also is a big Seattle Mariners fan (And we mean big - Doug is 6’6”)!
